Dominicana debutará frente a los Estados Unidos

Santo Domingo. La selección de béisbol de República Dominicana debutará frente a los Estados Unidos en el Premier 12, importante evento programado para efectuarse del 8 al 21 de noviembre en Taiwán y Japón.



El partido está programado para efectuarse en Taoyuan y comenzará a las seis de la tarde (6:00 a.m, hora del Este) del próximo 10 de noviembre y formará parte del primer día de cartelera completa del naciente certamen que organiza la Federación Internacional de Béisbol y Softbol, pues en la apertura, el día ocho chocarán los seleccionados de Japón versus Korea del Sur y al día siguiente China se medirá a Holanda.

Dominicana continuará su accionar el miércoles 11 con un enfrentamiento frente a Korea del Sur, programado para comenzar a las 6:00 de la tarde. Mientras que el jueves 12 chocará ante Japón también a las 6:00 de la tarde en el mismo escenario. -MAS-

Los Capitanes de los equipos

El torneo esta compuesto por cuatro equipos competivivos que prometen dejarlo todo en la cancha. Centro NYC , The Polanco NYC , Baico USA, y Harverstraw son los titanes a competir y sus Capitanes son ; Joangel Pena,  Pedro Polanco,  Agustin Matos y Richard Villa respectivamente.

Todos los lunes desde el 27 de octubre al 16 de Noviembre se dara la batalla campal de los equipos de Tamboril.  Los  equipos luciran flamantes uniformes encargados para este torneo de baloncesto Tamboril a Peligro Sports una de las la tiendas  mas confiables por la calidad y el tiempo de entrega en Screen Printing y utiles deportivos en New York. Peligro Sports esta localizada  en el corazon de Washington Heights siempre apoyando el deporte de nuestra comunidad.

El Juramento estuvo a cargo de Feykson Sanchez y se le hizo y  un justo reconocimiento al Sr. Juan Lebron. Los organizadores del evento; Santos Quiroz, Franklin Mejia, Felipe Marte, Fredy Ramos, y Virgilio Romero, se han esforzado para que el torneo de baloncesto Tamboril  sea una justa que incentive la unidad y al mismo tiempo  traiga un balance entre cuerpo y mente.

On October 19^th was the largest walk for the Cancer awareness in NewYork City. Gislain Santos (gigi) a resident from the Bronx and a Cancer Survivor set out to walk with the support of friends and family.

The battle is long and tiresome, but there is no fight in life that cannot be fought and no distance on earth that cannot be walk. When you have the support of friends and family everything seems to be possible.

In the moment I put my t-shirt on, I was not alone any more. I was team GIGI and I was walking for a larger cause. I met Gigi when she was a small kid, full of life, full of dreams and today as life get tough she keeps dreaming and fighting. I feel blessed for knowing such a strong family, the question is am I worthy of wearing the Team GIGI T-shirt.

Lidom Opening Night – Se Calienta la Pelota Dominicana

 

 The Dominican baseball just opened last night is time to review the performance of our teams in the opening dates.

 

 Las Agulias Cibaenas have beaten the Giants in the last three matches, scoring 25 runs in those games. We need to take into account that Las Aguilas Cibaenas have won eight of their last 9 games. This frightful team has won all opening nights since 2003.   

Los Tigres del Licey have a 4-2 record against Los Leones del Escogido in their last opening games.

Las Estrellas Orientales have won the last two years (not including last night) to Los

Toros Del Este with a great pitching in a very interesting game.

Los Toros del Este ha a five games winning streak   defeating Las Estrellas Oreientals in all of those games.

Continuing a tradition of support and pride for the baseball universe in New York City and the Dominican Republic, Peligro Sports NYC congratulates David Ortiz for his continued success in the world of Major League Baseball and beyond. In recognition of the strides Ortiz has accomplished inside and out of the ballpark, Peligro Sports NYC is proud to present a spotlight feature in their blog designed to give a closer look into the career of one of the Dominican Republic's most celebrated sons.

David Ortiz, who celebrated his November 18th birthday just a couple days ago, was born in Santo Domingo in 1975. Nicknamed "Big Papi" by his fellow players upon first joining his team, Ortiz currently plays as a Major League Baseball designated hitter with the Boston Red Sox. In an interview with IGN Sports, David Ortiz explained the nickname's history.

"I just called you Papi a little while ago. When I don't know someone's name, and I'm bad at remembering people's names, that's what I call them, so that's what they started calling me. It's a good excuse, a good way to be friendly to people even though you can't remember their names," said Ortiz jokingly.

Thanks to Big Papi's contribution this season, his Boston Red Sox swept the MLB World Series this year, finishing up the season with a score of 6 games to 1 against the St. Louis Cardinals. David Ortiz, now a three-time world champion of Major League Baseball was touted "Most Valuable Papi" by teammates, Boston fans across the world and the 2013 World Series MVP after batting .688 with two homers and six RBIs.

"I can't add anything more to the legend that's already there," general manager Ben Cherington said. "He keeps writing more chapters on his own."

Beyond a stellar player performance record with the 2013 season, Ortiz has maintained a history of hardcore sportsmanship and legend, as his GM calls it, since his initiating his career with the Minnesota Twins in 1997.

He's accumulated over 431 career home runs, which ranks him 45th on the MLB all-time home run list, and became the League's all-time RBI leader by a designated hitter in 2011, hitting his 1000th RBI with the Red Sox in the same year. David Ortiz is committed to his team and his city of Boston, Massachusetts.

The Peligro Sports NYC blog is live now and aims to increase available access for enthusiasts of the World Baseball Classic 2013, the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the sports world of New York City and beyond.

The website and social media bases will enrich the excitement of following the baseball season by providing fans with the means to support their teams through online commentary, spotlights on featured players, and editorial pieces ranging from the history of LIDOM to its impact on America today.

President of Peligro Sports, Jose Mateo, continues the tradition of pride in service through this development of online outreach.

“When I see the smile of a kid getting ready for the next game, the fire in their eyes and the dream coming to life when they get what they need to play baseball,” Mateo explains, “it makes me proud and committed to give them the best equipment and the best service available to us.”

Mateo grew up in Washington Heights in the shadow of Yankee Stadium.  Like many young kids from the Dominican Republic growing up in the city, baseball became a part of the routine of daily life as naturally as drawing breath. 

The crack of wooden bats and the snap of leather gloves as they close around a fly ball inspired “Peligro” to participate in the “Mecca” of baseball culture in New York City.
